Water For Elephants

So, this is a little behind the times, but I went to see Water For Elephants the other week; I had been wanting to see it desperately since it came out, but thought the cinema near me had stopped showing it, so I was delighted when they added some more showings! It was every bit as beautiful, enigmatic, magical, romantic and moving as I had imagined it to be; I felt like I was in a dream and was completely immersed from start to finish- I wanted to be there! Pattinson and Witherspoon played their parts flawlessly and gracefully, both utterly beautiful as always.

I particularly enjoyed the amazing costumes, mostly fashioned by Witherspoon which consisted of beaded leotards and stunning 1930's evening gowns. I was enthralled by the decadence and longed that we lived like that still-dressing immaculately and elegantly at all times, red lipstick and curls in place whilst sipping copious amounts of Moet at supper time! Oh but to dream...

I came away from the cinema feeling hugely inspired by the magic and romance of the story as well as the 1930's/early 40's glamour and poise. I am now working on creating a narrative photo shoot combining influences from the film for an atmospheric story and beautiful, embellished clothing, which I have also been inspired by from the A/W 11-12 trend, 'Forties Elegance' as seen at Gucci, Galliano, Miu Miu and Jonathon Saunders this season- watch this space for my up and coming shoot!
