A Weekend Away in Cardiff

A few weekends ago, myself and the girls took a long overdue road trip down to Cardiff for a mini break. We had been planning this for over 3 years, ever since of them started uni down there, however, what with us all having our busy lives it never actually materialised into a reality. A year and a bit on, everyone having graduated and in real 'grown up' jobs, miraculously we all managed to plan a weekend to do it when we were all free! So we all went back to our wild and free student days, for one weekend and one weekend only! Although, as much as it pains me to say it, we were merely shadows of our former party animal selves when it came to staying out into the early hours, drinking soco's and dancing the night away for two nights running...but we had a damn good time trying to keep up with the youngens that's for sure! Aside from partying, the girly weekend was spent by lots of photo taking, cupcake eating, nail painting, face-packing (with cucumber slices!), rom-com watching, sightseeing and girl talk aplenty. Perfect <3
Severn bridge - many attempts at capturing this on camera from me in the back seat!

Loved this quirky little wall display of various birdcages in one of the bars we went to called Buffalo
Brum! Brought back childhood memories for us all...
THE most amazing and much needed Full English after our first night, supplied by a cute little independent run cafe, with the sweetest little old lady taking the orders and the cheapest prices! One night down...
A nicely random tribute to the Olympics just outside of the town centre

I was incredibly excited to see this real life, still fully intact castle...with an actual moat! Simple things...
This reminds me of a scene from a children's Disney fairytale film...
Inside one of the quirky little shopping arcades
Some of the most incredible cake designs...
 Love this one
This is such a cute idea for a wedding cake!
All from the delectable Madame Fromage
It became apparent that we couldn't actually tear our eyes away from the window display, so figured the only thing to do was to go inside and each order one!
Mine was heavenly with a strawberry jam based middle, chocolate mousse slathered on top with a digestive biscuit, finished off with a stawberry angel delight like topping, with chocolate sauce!

I'm wearing: tie dye Topshop dress, New Look mint peep toe heels and Accessorize clutch bag

  1. Looks like a fabulous day!!
Love the cupcakes, the adorable little car and the absolutely fabulous bird cages!!

  2. Ah thank you Martha! yes it was a lovely weekend, and the cupcakes were the best I've tasted! xx
