For the past month Marks and Spencer have been running an exciting Blogger competition to choose a dress from their Summer collection, and create a moodboard of how you would style it for your dream holiday destination. I have chosen Mexico as mine, as I have always had visions of myself soaking up the sun on a white sandy beach, tequila sunrise in hand, surrounded by the beautiful scenery of Cancun. Once I spotted this Per Una pleated maxi dress on the website, I just knew Mexico was the right choice and this dress would look perfect in such a beautiful and colourful setting. I adore wearing maxis on holiday, and the striking abstract print creates the perfect balance of glamour and tropical, laid back vibes. The dress is also a bargain at £33 in their sale at the moment, reduced from £45.
I have chosen to style my chosen dress for an evening on the island, perhaps for dinner watching the sun set. With this in mind, I would wear this cute but simple bolero as a little cover up in case of chilly sea breezes. Boleros and shrug cardis are great investments for popping on over pretty dresses, as they give a little extra coverage without covering up too much of the design of the dress.
This elegant teal clutch bag from the M&S Collection range, was the perfect addition to the outfit, adding a simple touch of class with the subtle pleated design. Next, I chose these timeless metallic leather cut out T-bar sandals, as I always like to have a bit of a heel in the evenings, but you can never predict what the ground is going to be like when you go to exotic places, so I thought these were a rather sensible sandal of choice, while still adding a touch of glam. Finally, it wouldn't be an outfit at all without a few little shiny pieces; let alone one for an exotic getaway. So, I have opted for this delicate 'frilly' bracelet and these gold plated tigers eye drop earrings to tie in with the warmer tones of the dress.
As an expectant Mum, I am well aware that long gone will be the luxury of whiling away a whole afternoon browsing numerous shops, therefore I find M&S a brilliant 'one stop shop' to get everything you need for an outfit all under one roof!
