My Style: Garden Florals

What is Summer without a bit of floral dressing!? It's a must in my opinion, and this cute little New Look skirt proved to be just the perfect piece for injecting a little girlyness into my wardrobe. I find as much as I love full, flared midi skirts, they can sometimes drown me a little due to my height, and always have to wear heels with them, but I found this to be the ideal length for me; and it looks great with flats too! It's a big favourite of mine at the moment, as I have found it so versatile: great for work, to be dressed up for dinner, or dressed down for a casual picnic in the park. I just wanted to keep this look really simple and elegant, so just teamed it with a slinky white cami and nude wedges and added a teensy bit of quirk with this flamingo necklace I got in Paris a few years back!

My Style: Liquorice & Citrus (ASOS Chartreuse Trousers Edit #1)

Hello! So this is my final installment of my ASOS petite samples, featuring these drop. dead. gorgeous chartreuse peg leg trousers. In fact, I love them SO much, I have decided to produce thress separate posts featuring them, showing different ways of styling them. You wouldn't really envisage them to work well with that many things, but I have honestly found them so versatile! They really are a staple wardrobe item for Summer. I've found they can be formally dressed up suitably to wear to work, casually dressed down with a pair of pumps and tucked in tee, or jazzed up with accessories, heels and a cute crop top for a dinner date or cocktails. I literally cannot get over how much I love them! Again, as these were from the petite range, I have found them to fit me perfectly - waist and leg wise. However, I do find I usually have to go a size down with ASOS clothes, even in petite. You can check out my post on the Size ASOS event from a few weeks back to hear more about the sizing of their clothes, and the concept the brand decided to introduce to enable truer sizing to their clothes.
For my first look featuring the trousers, I thought this monochrome blouse added a sophisticated edge, glamming it up slightly with a bejewelled statement necklace (what else!?), and adding a pair of barely there sandals (still obsessing over these), and an oversized clutch. This look would be perfect for the office with a smart blazer, minus the clutch, and could take you straight onto after work drinks at a cool cocktail bar. The monochrome tones down the citrus shade, while pulling it all together with a dash of the matching colour in the necklace.

I can't wait to get the next two edits live to show you! :)

My Style: A Wild Flower Walk, Ft. ASOS

So here is my next ASOS petite installment, featuring this beautiful pansy print playsuit that I was very kindly sent to style up. I mentioned in my previous ASOS post below that I decided to chose my three items very carefully and went with the maxi because it is often quite hard to find one that isn't uber long, so I wanted to make the most of the petite option by picking something that would actually be useful to me (as well as being absolutely stunning!). The same went with the decision making for this; I often find the straps on playsuits way too long for me, unless they are adjustable. This cute little number however, fitted like a glove and the flattering spaghetti straps were the perfect length. The print is just perfectly ditsy with a slight vintage feel, and was the ultimate outfit choice for a woodland stroll with Theo, on a boiling hot summers day.

I wanted to keep this look rather simple, (again! What is happening to me? I'm going all minimalist lately, eek!) so just added a floppy hat to tie in with the British tea party vibe, and some old favourites; a pair of mustard(y) sandals, which brought out the little yellow flowers in the playsuit beautifully.

I wanted to show how this piece could be styled in a different, slightly more dressed up way to gain optimum usage out of it, as it is such a gorgeous playsuit it deserves to be worn on a number of occasions! I knew I had this beaut, orchid blazer stashed away in my wardrobe, and instantly knew it would be the perfect match to the pansy colours. I kept my shoes the same as they still went well with the jacket, and this also shows how easily it can be transformed from a casual day outfit, to an outfit suitable for dining al fresco or sipping cocktails of an evening. Paired with a tailored blazer, I also felt that this would make a lovely wedding guest outfit, maybe with a simple white fascinator, a slightly more delicate pair of sandals and a cute clutch bag.

What do you think of this playsuit? I'm absolutely in love; and it's soo comfy as well. If you're petite like moi, I would highly recommend shopping in that department of ASOS, as they have some really lovely, on trend pieces, at all times!

My Style: Neon Breeze, Ft. ASOS (& an Appearance From Theo!)

The other week I was very kindly asked by the Petite press team at ASOS to choose a few pieces from the new in range, to style and feature. Of course you can imagine my excitement at having free reign to pick anything at all; I did spend most of the afternoon perusing the website trying to make up my mind! In the end I decided to be fairly sensible with my decisions, firstly settling on this stunning maxi - why on earth is that a sensible decision I hear you ask!? Well being only 5"2 (& a quarter!) I really do struggle with the lengths on most maxi dresses I try; I often just buy them anyway as I love being able to just throw one on during Summer, but I do then usually spend most of my time being careful not to trip up on the hemline! So seeing as I was choosing from the petite section I thought it was the perfect opportunity to obtain a beautiful dress that would actually fit properly! And I definitely was not disappointed with my choice; the print and colour combo on this is just gorgeous, with a lovely subtle sheen to the fabric that swishes and sways around me just perfectly.

I knew that Dan, Theo and I were planning a family day out at Highcliffe, and it just so happened that it was on the most beautiful day which was ideal for debuting this little number. I kept it really simple and just let the dress do the talking, partly to do with the heat but mainly because it really didn't need much styling; I just added a neon statement necklace to add even more pop, and my metallic rose gold wedges to tie in with the black elements. We took a stroll down to the beach which proved to be an idyllic location for shooting outfit pictures, before heading up to the castle cafe for cream tea in the sunshine - if you haven't been to Highcliffe Castle before, I highly recommend taking a visit, it really is beautiful with stunning gardens as well!

I will be uploading posts which feature my other two chosen ASOS goodies very soon, so stay tuned to see how I styled them up!
