Monochrome Magpie

Ahh monochrome, my new friend. I feel I'm constantly going on about how much I'm loving monochrome this season, and that it's so out of character for me blah blah blah...but perhaps in actual fact it is in character now? I think the Magpie may be growing up. *sob* But anyway, I purchased this mini skirt's sister piece - the rose gold version, way back in March as a Birthday treat to me, from me, so when I saw this beauteous silver version in the SALE last month, I of course had to snap it up. I've been really into mini skirts for most of this year - last year it was all about the midi for me, but now I look at the clusters of forgotten skirts in my wardrobe and shudder. Perhaps that was because that was pretty much my uniform for the Summer whilst being pregnant and still wanting to look stylish (ish). Or maybe it's simply a case of tastes changing; funny isn't it, how you can be totally obsessed with a certain style, or item of clothing and then within a few months feel repulsed by the very same piece. Fashion is a fickle, fickle thing. I wanted to be cosy, yet still chic, when meeting some family for lunch the other week in town, so teamed the skirt with this lovely cream, slightly fluffy jumper as well as a simple yet elegant black duster jacket. You simply cannot go wrong with one of these babies, as you may well have already read in one of my previous posts below. It is also the perfect item for throwing on when it's just not quite full on coat weather yet (yes, crazy I know considering November is almost upon us - let's not complain!). I finished off with my signature, and fail safe accessory - a statement necklace, and these little suede booties I got from eBay last year, which are still going strong despite being subjected to some rather grubby pavements. Hope you enjoy this look, as always, I've listed where everything is from below.

LFW SS15 Day 2 Outfit

I can't believe I'm only just posting this outfit now, and can't believe I let these images of my LFW Day 2 look slip through the net! It was my favourite - absolute epic blogger fail! Anyway, my motto of the moment seems to be 'better late than never', so here goes. As seen in my Day One outfit post from LFW this season, I'm a sucker for culottes right now, so it was to be the item of choice for my second outfit as well! These beauties are from ASOS, as is the jumper. I wanted to convey a chic, laid back and simple look for the 2nd day I attended, and found this worked well with the grey, monochrome tones; adding interest with the French slogan and stripes. I picked up these little shoes from Primark on a last minute whim the day before, and found they worked perfectly with my chosen outfit (unfortunately my poor little feet did not agree! *ouch*).

Marsha (London Tall Girl) and I, found the most gorgeous location and perfect outfit photo opportunity, strolling back from a show on our way to Somerset House - how beautfiul are all these flowers? I loved the vintage bicycle propped up outside and the array of bric-a-brac visible in the window, I'm not entirely sure what the venue was but I think it was some kind of eatery. Anyway, we took full advantage of such a unique background for our photos and spent a good 20 minutes or so perfecting our shots!

Day 2 was great, I saw the beautiful Orla Kiely presentation, the Merit Award winner show and the Ethologie catwalk by Jasper Garvida. I had to cut my time in London short on that day however, to get back home and prepare for my Bubba's 1st Birthday party the next day, (crazy that I'm writing this a month on from that day - he's growing up soooo fast!) so I shall look forward to hopefully experiencing a slightly more leisurely time next season, rather than rushing around like a headless chicken trying to do too many things!

Apologies this post is so late, but I felt it's still relevant as monochrome is huge right now, so I wanted to get this outfit up nonetheless! What do you think of this look? Are you a monochrome lover or hater?

I'd love to know your thoughts! Don't forget you can also follow my style (& a few other bits and bobs) on InstagramTwitter & Facebook x

What I'm Wearing:

Jumper & Culottes: Both ASOS, Shoes & bag: Both Primark

Trend of the Week: Dusters

I've been in love with Duster coats/ jackets for years - way before they made it onto the street style radar! I just think they can make the simplest outfit look so chic; it must be something to do with the long line silhouette, but for me, they just work every time. I think actually, a duster jacket works it's magic best when paired with a simple tee, some skinny or ripped boyfriend jeans and some heels - voila! A chic, yet simple, and so easy to wear outfit. Here are a few of my faves available on the highstreet and online right now. If you invest in anything this AW - make sure it's one of these!

Autumn Vibes Featuring Sugarhill Boutique

I was sent this stunning 'Florence' tunic dress from the lovely ladies at Sugarhill Boutique, and just thought it was the most perfect Autumnal dress! I love how the classic autumn hues are contrasted with the cobalt blue background, which introduces a lovely pop of colour. This was a really chilly day, so I decided to team it with this amazing camel cable knit jumper, which is originally from Toast, but my beady eye pounced on it in a local charity shop - it's in brilliant condition and I got it for an incredible £2.99!! Due to the extreme chilliness (I had just been getting over a cold, so needed to keep extra cosy), I popped on this wool blend double breasted swing coat - also from a charity shop. I wanted to draw out the autumnal colours from the dress so dug out my trusty plum hat and suede boots, and was good to go! The dress will be perfect for Spring too, (which seems like a lifetime away now!) worn with bare legs, some tan wedges and a pair of oversized sunnies. I love clothing like this which provides such versatility; not just with styling options, but also for all seasons.

What I'm Wearing:

Dress: c/o *Sugarhill Boutique, Coat: Vintage, Boots: New Look, Hat: Vintage, Jumper: (Vintage) Toast.

What do you think of this look? Are you a fan of Autumnal dressing? I'd love to know! Don't forget you can follow me on Instagram and Twitter if you so wish!

Chanel N°5: The One That I Want - The Film

These behind the scenes shots from the making of the new Chanel no.5 ad featuring the goddess that is Gisele, and directed by the genius that is Baz Luhrmann, are just too dreamy that I had to write a post on it. I always love the Chanel fragrance adverts; they're always full of character with a real cinematic vibe - you feel like you're watching a short arty film rather than an advert on TV. I always seem to get transported to the smoky streets of Paris and get whisked away in the love affair that is usually being depicted. I particularly love the Mother/ Daughter scenes in this film, and of course, Luhrmann's signature enigmatic and seductive scenes in the opulent theatre, where Gisele finds the one that she wants. Utter perfection.
