Last week while I was working up in London, I attended the #GardenOfArcadiaSS15 press preview. You'll have to forgive me for the photo quality, as this will a real last minute thing for me so only had my iPhone to capture images (although luckily, I'd recently upgraded to the beautiful 6, so the picture quality isn't too bad). I attended with my lovely blogger friend Marsha and we were instantly transported through a tunnel of lush foliage, into a magical secret garden, mixing strong boho vibes with slick, chic tailoring. I adored the whole visual styling for each brand; there were quirky trinkets and treasures dotted around including rusty old watering cans, an abundance of bird cages filled with spectacular shoes, clusters of orchids, ethnic lanterns and intricate metal tins, coloured glass bottles, little ceramic birdies in an array of colours, old suitcases piled high displaying accessories, Jo Malone candles and walls upon walls of beautiful plants and creeping ivy. This was before I'd even taken in the beautiful clothes! The strongest theme depicted throughout each brand was definitely a hippie/Woodstock/bohemian vibe, with lace and crochet aplenty, fringing, tan floppy hats, suede and busy patterns. Another trend very apparent was khaki. It was everywhere! Now I've never really been a fan of the colour apart from when throwing on a parka at a festival, but, there was something different about these collections that got me lusting after it. The favoured hue seemed to be very soft and dusky, unlike the garish, greeny brown that comes to mind when we first think of khaki. No, these colours were far more feminine and in my humble opinion, wearable, often mixed in with a pale pink palette which I think worked beautifully. I've always been a huge fan of the Arcadia brands, but I must say, I was so blown away by these collections - especially Dorothy Perkins, which is unusual for me as I've always been a Topshop girl at heart, but maybe I'm on the verge of being converted...
