My Style: Casual Co-ords

I have always loved co-ords, whether it be a trouser and jacket set or shorts and crop top - it's an ensemble that will always work and look chic. Primark have got loads of different lovely sets in at the moment, I picked up this one as I thought it's still slightly too chilly to brave the bare legs, so thought this piece would work really well with a trusty pair of tights. I have, however, got my eye on a more Spring friendly set for when the weather cheers up up!

Jacket, skort & jumper: All Primark
Shoes: Topshop

My Style: Botanical Print SS14

Botanical prints are big news this season, with designers such as Etro, Peter Pilotto and Mary Katrantzou taking inspiration from nature and featuring an array of clashing patterns. I love this cute tee from Topshop, featuring a delicate illustrative print that reflects the trend beautifully. I very rarely wear an actual T-shirt, but I feel this one is very versatile and can easily be dressed up to be a bit more feminine. As I mentioned in my previous post, bomber jackets are also very big right now - I got this lime green number from Bershka last year, but due to us having such a boiling summer and being pregnant meant I barely got to wear it, so I'm thrilled that the bomber has made a big comeback this season so I can actually get some wear out of it! If, like me, you're quite a girly girl and don't particularly know how to work the more masuline trends like sport luxe for example, I love to take a key item such as the bomber jacket, and mix it up with a bit of sparkle or shine - like with this metallic tube skirt. That way my top half is fairly sporty, but the bottom half balances it out with a feminine skirt and pair of heels. You don't have to wear the trend head to toe, just an accessory or one item is enough to give a nod to a certain style if you're not comfortable with going all out.

What I'm Wearing:

Lime bomber jacket: Bershka
Botanical print tee: Topshop
Metallic tube skirt: River Island
Studded booties: Office
Daisy necklace: River Island
Sunglasses: c/o Next

Marks & Spencer Styling Challenge

Last week I was contacted by Megan from the online team at Marks and Spencer, asking if I'd like to take part in a styling challenge - of course the answer was absolutely! The idea was to pick a dress from their occasion wear collection and show how it can be made versatile by styling it in a number of different ways. As thrilling as it is buying a beautiful new dress for a wedding or the races etc, it can often mean leaving your bank balance less than happy, so the M&S team and myself wanted to show that you can get more wear out of that gorgeous dress you wore for a special ocassion, making it more of an investment buy rather than a one off extravagant one. Here I have shown 3 different ways of styling this floral shift dress: for an occasion, casual wear and mixing it into a trend - sport luxe. This is just an idea of what you could do, and hopefully an inspiration to anyone who has a couple of 'dressy' dresses tucked away in the back of their wardrobes, after just one wear (which let's face it, I think most of us girls do!) but is not limited to these styles - there's plenty more you could do if you let your imagination take control!
I chose this elegant limited edition floral shift to style, as I thought the silhouette was subtle and classy, which would make it more versatile to team with other items, and the print was soft and feminine which I loved. I also chose this nude, patent clutch bag to compliment the dress as occasion wear.

For the first look I teamed the dress with this nude blazer which tied in with the dusky pink colour on the dress, to give it a more tailored, formal vibe. This is such a simple look to achieve - add some well chosen jewellery and throw on some heels and you've got that wedding guest/ races/ regatta look sorted. I also kept my hair and makeup quite simple and natural, as to not take away the focus from the dress and to keep it sophisticated. This look would also work perfectly well for the office on a summer's day, maybe just with a slightly more conservative heel.
Next I decided to style the dress with a more casual twist, for a country walk. I also wanted to show how you can easily dress your dress down, by transforming it into a skirt by adding a comfy, chunky jumper. This is especially a good trick if a dress has a beautiful print all over it, so you will still see some at the bottom. This dress worked especially well with this idea due to its high neck, which meant it is still noticeable as a dress, and gives a slightly fun edge.

When dressing more casually I always like to be a little bit more adventurous with my accessorising, to add a quirky twist to a more toned down look. I paired this outfit with my favourite earrings and a cute pearl look collar. If the dress doesn't have a high neck, popping a shirt with an interesting collar over the top, then layering up with a jumper with the collar on display can give a fresh and modern look.
For my final outfit, I decided to inject a little of the current sports luxe trend. This is something that can be done season after season, meaning your dress will stay current all year round - just pick a certain trend and just add one item that reflects it, and you instantly have an up to date look.

I'm loving bomber jackets this season, and thought this metallic sleeved number tied in perfectly with the colour palette of the dress, while adding a funky, youthful vibe. I added these peep toe buckled boots to tie in with the slightly sporty/ urban feel, and finished off with a glitzy bag to bring it back to being girly, and this stunning stone pendant, also courtesy of M&S.

Thank you to M&S for these wonderful items, I will carry on seeing how many ways I can wear them! You can shop the look by heading to dresses here, jewellery here and bags & purses here. There are some really lovely items from their Spring collection at the moment, plus a sale on - so head on over before you miss a bargain!

My Style: Bohemian Rhapsody

I love mixing textures and patterns - especially decadent styles such as brocade, embossed materials, lurex and fur! I picked up this fab pyjama style kimono in the Topshop sale a few months back and teamed it with one of my oldest and favourite mini's, this brocade style from H&M which I have had for literally years! But every now and then it comes out to make an appearance and I never get bored of it. That's when you know it was a true investment buy - when the love stays as strong as the day you first set eyes on an item! I felt this look had a little bohemia vibe going on with the pattern clashing and colour mix, and no boho ensemble is complete without a trusty floppy hat.

What I'm Wearing:
Pyjama style kimono. boyfriend coat & ponyskin wedges: All Topshop
Mini skirt: H&M
Snake necklace & hat: Both eBay

My Birthday Style: Muted Metallics

This Monday just gone was my Birthday, so of course, celebrating in style had to be done; which meant a cheeky new purchase was a must! I adore metallics and all things shiny at the best of times as my readers will know, so imagine my delight that the trend is back in stores! It was love at first sight the moment I clapped eyes on this beauteous little rose gold number in River Island, and I knew it would make the perfect Birthday statement piece. I wanted to stick to quite a muted palette so that the skirt would stay the main attraction, so teamed it with this cute little mohair vest with a gorgeous sequin trim (because a girl's gotta have a little sparkle on her Birthday!) that I picked up in a local charity shop not long ago, along with my new boots and favourite purchase of the year so far, my gorgeous camel cape! Around Christmas time I walked past an almost identical one to this in John Lewis, but it was unfortunately out of my price range, so I decided to turn to my favourite online shopping destination to see what I could find. eBay. I am obsessed! From home interiors to clothes and toys for Theo, to fashion bargains, I just can't get enough! And did it let me down this time? Absolutely not; I found this beauty for an absolute steal!

I had a really wonderful Birthday this year, and was very much spoilt by my lovely friends, family and the two men in my life (if anyone is a new reader, that sounds awful...I am referring to my Mr and my bubba!) These photos were taken at the idyllic location of the Cowherds pub in Southampton, where we went on to have a delicious Birthday, family lunch.
Speaking of eBay, I also picked up this stunning Pinko cardigan which was in immaculate condition from there, for an amazing price as well! If anyone has yet to get into the auction site, I would urge anyone who loves a bargain or who likes to mix up their wardrobes with something a bit unique, to jump on board, as it's really amazing what you can find if you search properly! The same goes for charity shops, I know they are very much an 'in' place to shop now, but that hasn't always been the case! I've been browsing in them for years with my Mum, and it was considered so uncool as a mere teen, and I think there is still a little stigma attached to shopping in them, but if you go to the right places, they are usually full of hidden gems at incredible prices!

What I'm Wearing:

Fur trimmed cardi: Pinko from eBay
Knitted sequin trim top: Thrifted
'M' pendant: Topshop
Rose Gold mini skirt: River Island
Grey suede boots: eBay
Fur trimmed camel cape: eBay
