I absolutely loved this couture collection from Mr. Lagerfeld for Chanel - it's got everything you could possibly want from a Chanel runway show: divine dresses, classic boucle two pieces with a twist, gorgeous rich colours as well as chic monochrome, fun and frivolous vibes and quirky headwear. What's not to love!? The show was opened by male models dressed as gardeners clad in khaki, a straw hat similar to the tulle version seen on many of the female models, and carrying a waterless watering can. The collection began with block colour wool suits in bold primary colours, with longline jackets and A- line skirts, which swiftly transitioned into a new line of skirts; slim-line falling from the hip hanging straight down. All outfits were teamed with contrasting flat, black leather boots, which bought you back to the whole garden vibe. The collection was heavily focused on flowers which could be seen everywhere, from the large clusters which adorned the hems of dresses, jackets and tops, to the embellishment on the knitted beanies and of course, adorning the entrance to the runway. These florals were not, however, your average take on the traditional motif for Spring, oh no, Lagerfeld's variation depicted a very strong exotic, Jungle feel, which was especially enhanced with the vibrant colours of the whole collection. The show looked youthful, fun, free and happy; all the while staying true to the Chanel brand. As Vogue stated in their runway report: 'It was an optimistic light show that gave Chanel a youthful vitality without losing its elegance', which I absolutely think sums up the catwalk show perfectly.
