So the big V day is upon us, whether you're a fan or a foe of the day of lurvee, the impending date can sometimes be the cause of females everywhere panicking about what to wear. Whether you're a singleton planning a good old girls night, or in a relationship, the fact is girls being girls usually like to make an effort and look their best. The Dressing Room got in touch with me the other week to ask whether I would like to chose some pieces from their site to create two different Valentines day looks: one for the day and one for the evening. I do love a style challenge so of course I jumped at the chance. First up is my take on a 'day date' outfit. I wanted to keep this outfit fairly simple but chic, to show versatility and the numerous places it could be worn to;for example an outfit like this would be great for a brunch date, a walk in the park, cinema trip, or even just a coffee date. I chose these Twist & Tango grey ankle jeans as the basis for my outfit as I wanted to show how jeans can look chic and sassy even when parred down with other simple items. This combined with the comfort factor is an ideal item of clothing to wear on a date - whether it's with someone new or your significant other (or a girly day with friends!). However, I would suggest opting for a colour other than your everyday blue denim jeans, just to make yourself feel a tad more 'special' for the day - hence why I opted for these grey ankle jeans. Skinny jeans are also particularly flattering with a pair of heels if you're a heels kinda gal, or if not, they're also perfect with over the knee boots which are very on trend right now. I still wanted to keep this look cosy and comfy, so chose this Custom Made peach pullover jumper which has a subtle touch of sparkle, then by adding this gorgeous Pyrus bell shaped jacket over the top, it gives the whole look a finishing touch and also due to the silhouette of the jacket the outfit is kept looking refined but also fresh and laid back, with a couple of subtle touches of glamour. This type of look is really achieveable with pieces the majority of us girls most likely already have in our wardrobes, to create a similar outfit perfect for that special ' Day date'.
What are your plans for V day this year? Personally, I shall most likely be staying in with a movie and a bottle of wine - letting Dan do the cooking to save us both, or indulging in an M&S 'Dine in for 2'. Valentines Day is always just that little bit too close to my Birthday, so is always quite a low key event for us. Especially because this year I'm being taken to PARIS for my Birthday (eeekkkk!) which I am SO excited for! So as far as I'm concerned there doesn't need to be any fuss made over Valentines this year - not that I won't be dressing up to stay in however!
