Hello! Today my blogging mojo seems to have resurfaced - sometimes you just need to take a little time out from blogging to fall in love with it again, plus it has been a très busy month so far which hasn't made it easy to post lots. Anyway, I thought I'd start with an outfit post from a shoot I did a few weeks back now. Although we're finally heading towards a warmer climate in Blighty, there is still often quite a chill in the air, so I'm still donning the coats for the time being, just with a lighter, more spring like colour palette.
I'm wearing this stunning Primark coat - yes I know, I couldn't believe it was from there either, with one of my favourite items in my wardrobe - this Missguided cape blazer, which I just love as it goes with everything and instantly makes an outfit look chic; capes are still really big news, especially with the huuugeee Seventies trend (all hail, all hail), so if you never invested in one during Winter but love the look - fear not! There are still an abundance to choose from on the high-street, but also check out charity shops, eBay and Depop as you might be lucky and find a great bargain! The best thing about the cape trend, is that it's kinda the perfect piece of outerwear for these in-between months where transitional pieces are key - not too warm like a coat, but still provides that little added protection from a sudden gust of chilly wind.
I teamed the cape with these Twist & Tango skinny jeans from The Dressing Room and my beloved cream wrap blouse from River Island, for an understated, laid back but quite chic daytime look. My top tip if you're like me; a lover of coats and you're not quite ready to give them up yet as you bought so many various colours and styles throughout the Winter, is to just keep your underneath layer fairly sheer and light, that way you're not likely to overheat with a chunky polo neck, and also it will give a whole new vibe, instantly creating a more fresh, season appropriate look. This is obviously best for lighter coloured and more lightweight coats - regardless of whether you're wearing a bikini top underneath, a chocolate brown fur coat is still going to look just a touch too Wintery right now with all the sprouting daffodils and blossom blooming. Boyfriend styles will work best as they are generally a more lightweight coat anyway, and look great undone or thrown over the shoulders.
What I'm Wearing:
Coat: Primark, *Cape blazer: c/o Missguided (similar here), Wrap front blouse: River Island, *Jeans: c/o The Dressing Room, Heels: Primark (old), Bag: Carvela
Until next time...
