Hello and a very Happy Friday to you! Today's outfit post is all about stripping it right back to basics with a minimalistic approach to dressing. If you're a regular reader of Mode Madeleine, it'll be no surprise that over the last year or so I have converted to a much more simplistic wardrobe; appreciating the quality of a garment rather than the stock piling huge quantities of trend led pieces. Now I'm all about creating my capsule wardrobe with good quality, timeless, classic pieces which should hopefully see me through the last of my Twenties and into my Thirties.
Therefore, when lovely Ellie from Next asked me to pick out a few pieces from their Summer drop, I took quite some time cooing over the new holiday esque pieces and the pretty patterns, but stuck my sensible head on and opted for some pieces that would be ever so versatile and every woman needs in her wardrobe.
Next are well known for their high quality tailoring and so I wanted to take advantage of that, choosing this gorgeous Ecru Rich Cotton Blazer (now sadly sold out, but I've popped a link to an similar alternative below) and Black Pleat Tapered Trousers. You can really feel and see the quality of both items - to me it really is worth investing in good basics that will see you through as things like a good blazer and pair of black trousers are perfect trans-seasonal staples. I wanted to keep my look quite casual for the weekend and not feel like I was going to work, so I added this ASOS Ultimate Easy T-Shirt in grey marl to give that 'off duty' vibe.
I kept accessories to a minimal as to not overload the simplicity, so just added my beloved Miu Miu grey glitter cat eye sunglasses, a simple snake effect clutch bag and ASOS grey pointed heels. What do you think of this look? Are you more trend focused or investment focused when building your wardrobe? I used to be the former but I must say I am really enjoying being creative with more 'ordinary' pieces and styling them up - this kind of look is fast becoming my everyday uniform!
