OUTFIT| Ecru Punched Leather Dress From Next

Next leather dress in london
It's crazy to think that these pictures were taken only a few weeks ago, on a beautiful scorching day in London, and now the weather is all over the place - heck, there were near enough gail force winds down South yesterday! Looking through these images takes me back to sunnier, warmer times and makes me desperate to bust out the Summer clothes again as I write up this post in jeans and a roll neck jumper...! This incredible Ecru punched leather dress from Next is just the ultimate day-to-night item and will see me right through to the colder months where I'll layer up with a roll neck underneath, thick tights and chunky boots.
But for now (well in theory - who knows if the warm weather will actually return again) it's the perfect little dress for the office, a day out, lunching with friends or even cocktails with the girls of an evening. Unfortunately, in most of these photos there is quite a lot of creasing - I wore this to Balthazar for the Mathew Williamson afternoon tea and after a few hours sitting down & stuffing my face, I was mortifed to see I had accumulated more wrinkles than an elephant on my beautiful dress! In hindsight, we really should have planned to take the photos before the tea, however, ridiculous railway works meant there was no time before our booking and I did not want to risk our table being given to someone else! I will have to do another outfit post with this dress soon, so you can see it's true beauty - maybe I'll do a '3 ways to wear' post to show it's versatility.
I wanted to keep my whole look quite chic and understated, so opted to go for slight French Riviera vibes, adding in blue hues with my navy Lonchamp Le Pliage bag, a powder blue blazer from Topshop and tortoiseshell sunnies to tie in with the brown leather handles on the bag. I added a simple necklace which I got for a bargain in Primark a while back and haven't had the right outfit to wear it with until this one!
After our tea, bellies bursting and head's a little fuzzy from the cocktails, we hunted for a appropriate location around Covent Garden to shoot this outfit; it seemed like we were searching for an hour as the air quickly turned decidedly chillier! Finally we came across this perfect little spot, tucked away round the corner from The Royal Opera House - I couldn't believe I'd never come across it before! I'm guessing it is some kind of hotel - but how beautiful is the foliage and twinkling fairy lights!? It was an added bonus it was almost empty bar the odd passer by - even after years of having outfit photos taken in the streets, I've never seemed to get over that squirmy, cringey feeling of doing so - am I the only one not to have mastered the uncomfort of public outfit photos??
