I can hardly believe we are into September already - seriously, slow down 2015! This is the month my baby turns 2...so I really, really need the months to stop going so fast because soon enough, he'll be going to school *internal sob*. Anyway, let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet, or I'll be blubbing into my morning cuppa uncontrollably for the next hour! September is one of my favourite months - aside from it being little man's Birthday and a few friends' special days, it is Fashion Month: I find everything seems to happen - the most events, the best editorials in magazines, London Fashion Week, new and exciting A/W stock hitting stores etc. I find it tends to be all or nothing with press days and events throughout the Summer but September is definitely more all than nothing when it comes to anything fashion related. As well as all of those fun and games, I have found for the past few years that it is actually one of our best months weather wise on the South Coast (I cannot speak for the North), and actually think how perfect it would be a wonderful time to have a wedding - not too hot and stuffy but usually pretty dry and very pleasant. So I thought I would put together a little outfit suitable for a September wedding featuring this stunning 'Uriah' sequin T-shirt dress, for a little wedding guest style inspo if anyone has any more big days to attend during the warm(ish) weather.
Coast is one of my absolute favourite destinations for occasion wear and the prettiest party dresses. Their clothing is quite highly priced for my personal budget to be able to shop there regularly, but it's absolutely worth saving up a bit and splashing the cash on a quality dress or outfit for a really special occasion that requires something wow. If, like me, you are on a budget but are saving up for a super special dress, then I would personally opt for something quite neutral that can be used again and get your money's worth time and time again - an investment piece if you will. You can never go wrong with an LBD, LWD (Little White Dress - although perhaps not if it's for a wedding) or an LSD - that's a Little Sequin Dress by the way! Everyone needs at least one bit of sparkle in their closet, and this beautiful nude/ rose gold T-shirt style is a perfect combination of pretty, comfortable, versatile and also has that wow factor. Due to the heaviness of the lining inside, I would say this is ideal to wear come September for a special occasion, as it will add that little extra warmth into the evening but because of the loose, laid back fit, it will allow plenty of room for dancing the night away and consuming lots of cake! I was going to wear this for a 4th July wedding, but just found the material would be too warm as it happened to be a super hot day. I think if you're going to opt for a sequinned number with a slightly higher price tag than you'd usually go for, this loose T-shirt style is a great option, as you'll get more wear out of it for slightly less formal gatherings than a skin-tight bodycon. For example, it could be worn in the Winter with tights, knee high boots, a pretty shirt underneath revealing the collar and a fabulous coat or chunky jumper to be ultra cosy and give the illusion of a skirt rather than a dress. It's also a great option for those of you ladies who may be slightly body conscious, it's loose fit hides a multitude of sins without being any less glamorous! Also, not that I'm trying to sway you or anything, but this little beauty is now in the SALE!
To pull my look together I kept the colour palette uber simple. I love duster coats and in my opinion you can never have too many - one in each colour please! I just think they can make the plainest of outfits look chic; there's just something about a loose, long line coat that just screams elegance to me. This stone coloured longline duster jacket from the ASOS Petite range (also now in the sale *yay*) is one of my go to throw on pieces to add a little something to a perhaps rather non descript outfit such as a pair of jeans and T-shirt combo. In this instance it serves as the perfect light weight cover up for a September wedding or outside event, as well as adding a little elegance with the long line silhouette. Lace up shoes whether they tie up round the legs or ankles, have been absolutely everywhere this Summer and I have a feeling they'll be here to stay a little while so it's worth investing in a pair. I bought these nude lace up pointed heels back at the beginning of July for my friend's wedding, and I'm so glad I did because I just love them and feel they'll be a very welcome piece of footwear for many Summers to come. Even if the lace up shoe obsession dies down and they're not such an 'in' thing anymore, a pair such as these will still serve outfits well and make a subtle statement, due to the neutral colour and simple design, making them versatile and classic. To finish off I added a simple nude envelope clutch bag and a slick of MAC's 'Lady Danger' lipstick for a teeny tiny colour pop. I believe it's vital to add in a smidgen of colour somewhere if you're going for a heavily neutral outfit - it could be a necklace, nail polish, bag etc. but I find something is always needed or the whole look can end up looking a tad 'flat'.
What do you think of this look for a September wedding? If you're off to one this month and you're in need of a little more inspiration, you can take a peek at my previous wedding guest outfit inspo posts here, here and here.
