INDUSTRY EVENT | #sotonmeetup - Southampton Blogger Event

Soooo....this post is more than a little late, but it's still very relevant so I'm going to share it with you anyway. Back in August I attended my first ever event organised by the Soton Bloggers, run by the lovely Alice and Amy which was held at Revolution Southampton situated in the popular Bedford Place area. Up until a couple of months ago I wasn't even aware there were any other bloggers around the South - naively assuming everyone else apart from little old me was London based. So I was super excited when I realised yes in fact there were other South Coast based bloggers, when I came across the Soton Bloggers on Twitter and immediately registered my interest for any up coming events.
When the day finally came to attend the event, I was overwhelmed by the amount of bloggers who were there - I was expecting a small, intimate affair and instead it really was quite a turn out! Although I have some lovely blogger friends based in London who I'll get to see every now and then when I'm visiting for press days/ events, I have always longed for some more local blogger friends to connect with as my London trips are fairly few and far between with juggling a toddler and work. So I was thrilled to be in a room full of so many other like minded ladies, some of which had been living practically round the corner from me for all this time!

The day of the event was an absolute scorcher; in fact I think it was probably one of the hottest days we had throughout the whole 'Summer', so I went for a fairly minimal outfit to stay comfy but also quite chic in the weather. We were greeted with 2-4-1 drinks and forgetting myself and the time of day it was, I totally ordered my all time favourite cocktail to get at Revs - the Pornstar Martini. As I enjoyed sipping on my drink at steady intervals (it was so potent for the time of day combined with the heat!) I took the chance to look round and take a few snaps. I had been chatting to a couple of girls prior to the event over Twitter, and so I was pleased when Natasha recognised me and invited me over to the table she was sat at and began swapping Mummyhood stories with her as well as chatting with Sophie and Charlotte. Even though I should be quite accustomed to events now, especially with quite a few 'big ones' under my belt where the venue has been packed out, I had been feeling a little nervous rocking up on my own (which I generally tend to do anyway), which I guess is just a natural thing to feel when faced with a room full of ultimately, strangers. So I was relieved and grateful the girls had spotted me and called me over as I was able to relax a bit more then and avoid wandering around like a little lost puppy for the rest of the afternoon.

There was plenty to keep us occupied for the time we were there with delicious cupcakes & cake pops from Cake-Cetera, even more delicious (if that's possible) ice cream from Jude's, a raffle with incredible prizes to be won which included an amazing hamper full of Benefit goodies, a Sensationail kit and an Instax Mini Polaroid camera which I was gutted I didn't win...however, I did infact win something - which is very rare, in the form of a set of Esquido false eyelashes. Ironically I had literally just been sent a pair of these for a review (which will be coming soon), and I'm not even a massive false eyelash kinda gal! They are beautifully packaged though - but I'll save the details for my post on them.

We were spoilt rotten with uhhmazingg goodie bags which included huge brands such as Jurlique,  Witch Skincare, Weleda UK, Hotel Chocolat, Lipcote, Nanshy, Paul Mitchell and many, many more. Some of the products we were lucky enough to walk away with are really great, so I'll probably do a couple of reviews in the next few weeks on some of them. Because it was such a well turned out event, I didn't manage to meet that many bloggers, but since this event I attended a Bloggers preview at Lush Southampton and The Bloggers Festival hosted by Scarlett London (both of which I will be doing posts on), where I have had the privilege of meeting many more lovely girls around my area - Jess, Lexie, Tanya, Sam, Anna, Alice, Jessica, Karis, Mandy and Natalie - thank you all for being so welcoming, it's been so lovely to get to know you all and I look forward to many more events together! And of course to some other lovely ladies I haven't actually yet met IRL, only via social media - Ami, Brogan, Rachel and Kirstie - I am sure we will meet soon!
