As the title suggests - I am giving away TWO tickets for The Clothes Show on Friday 4th December! The line up is set to be great this year with familiar celebrity faces and industry insiders taking part in talks and hosting, including TV favourites Jamie Laing and Joey Essex. Caryn Franklin will return to the event leading the education programme, seminars and creative awards, while Gemma Cairney will be responsible for hosting all the performances to take place in the Fashion Theatre.
Today I'm styling up this gorgeous, sheer chiffon 'Deva' blouse in a lovely soft khaki hue. I had quite a strong love affair with pussybow blouses back in the beginning of my Uni days - as much as I adored fashion at the time, at that age, I really was just all over the place with some of my style decisions (isn't it funny how realisations such as these are only ever discovered with hindsight - it's a cliché, but it really is a wonderful thing), so with that being said, I somewhat killed the pussybow blouse a little with my fashion faux pas' and have never really looked at this style of blouse in the same way since. That was, until they became a strong contender in the Seventies trend that has just blown up across the fashion industry over the last few months, and I found myself wanting to be brave and make a tentative purchase.
Hello lovelies! It's Thursday, so we're on the home run guys - hang on in there with me! In todays post I'm styling up this beautiful knitted maxi coatigan with faux fur trim for a cosy but chic look in collaboration with Blue Vanilla. I've been a fan of this online brand for a little while now, for it's mega affordable but quality and on trend pieces, that can be easily worked into your wardrobe. As we're edging into *too cold to go out without a coat* territory, I thought a 'coatigan' would be the perfect piece to style up and offer an alternative to full on Winter coats at the moment - because, come on, it's still only October - we're going to be living in thick woollen coats for the next 6 months!
Well I think it's safe to say Summer is most definitely over now - we're lucky to be having a bout of beautiful sunshine lately, but the temperature has significantly dropped. Now I can handle a slightly chillier climate because it gives me great joy to update my wardrobe and transition into AW colour palettes and fabrics, and, like most other Fashion Bloggers, I adore layering up and experimenting with different looks. I can't be the only one that finds I get to a point where I get just a little bit bored of putting together an outfit from my Summer collection, and just so ready to start wearing all the lovely chunky knit jumpers and delving back into my much loved boot collection... anyone else?
My third and final outfit for London Fashion Week last month consisted of a bit of a sixties/ seveneties/ air hostess vibe concoction, with the focal point of the outfit being this insaaneee Suede berry trench coat - HOW amazing is it!? I had already been gifted these equally beautiful boots from Ted & Muffy a couple of months back, which I had been waiting for the weather to cool and finally be able to wear with all my Autumnal pieces. They have literally been sat in their beautiful box for weeks on end - I normally wouldn't wish the warm(ish) weather away, but I don't normally have such beauteous boots waiting to be worn! So as you can imagine, I was super excited when this coat was delivered to me, as I knew instantly it would be the perfect partner in crime to my boots, and I thought what better time to debut both pieces, than London Fashion Week. At the beginning of September I was very kindly invited up to the F&F showroom to pick a couple of pieces out for my LFW outfits, and this colour block shift dress really stood out for me and I knew then that an outfit was born!
Soooo....this post is more than a little late, but it's still very relevant so I'm going to share it with you anyway. Back in August I attended my first ever event organised by the Soton Bloggers, run by the lovely Alice and Amy which was held at Revolution Southampton situated in the popular Bedford Place area. Up until a couple of months ago I wasn't even aware there were any other bloggers around the South - naively assuming everyone else apart from little old me was London based. So I was super excited when I realised yes in fact there were other South Coast based bloggers, when I came across the Soton Bloggers on Twitter and immediately registered my interest for any up coming events.
Goooood afternoooon!! So it may be pouring down and as damp and dreary as anything in the South of England today, but my mood couldn't be any further from how the weather is feeling right now as I have some exciting news...which you can probably guess from the title of this post! Yes, I am immensely thrilled to announce I have been SHORTLISTED for a Cosmo Blog Award!! (Cue inward squeals and celebrating with cake...naturally)
I have applied a couple of times in the past on a whim, knowing that realistically, my blog probably wasn't up to scratch for making the final cut with there being such a huge array of fantastic blogs out there these days, but I always just thought you never know and I may as well try my luck. This year however, I actually thought there may just be the teeniest, tiniest possibility I *might* stand a chance, as for the past 6 months or so, I feel I have really stepped up my game with my photography, content and general design/ creative display. I'm not saying it's in any way perfect - I still have a lot I want to learn, achieve and work on, but compared to the previous years I have entered, I felt my little blog maybe, just maybe, could be considered a worthwhile entrant. So it just goes to show, never stop believing in yourself - if you can dream it, you sure as hell can do it! This may not seem like a massive thing to some, but it's something I have dreamed of for a while - obviously it would be incredible to win in my category, but just the fact that my blog has been shown some recognition in being shortlisted, already means the world to me and makes me feel like it's all worth while!
I know I am not the most frequent of bloggers with posting content; aside from the general time factor of creating content which I have previously written about why sometimes this is, I think I can be a bit of a perfectionist and where a couple of years back I would have posted 4 or 5 times a week with any old content to stay frequent, I am now much more concerned about the quality of my images, so if a post isn't quite right I just won't put anything up until it is.
So with that taken into consideration, I really hope you enjoy reading my posts and style tips and seeing my OOTD's - and if you do, I would so love it if you could help me in this next stage to possibly be crowned the winner (eeek! I literally couldn't even begin to imagine how I would be if that actually happened!!).
I have been nominated in the Best Use of Photography category, which I feel is a real honour. I actually asked people to vote for the Best for Fashion as well as this one, and of course I would have been over the moon to have been shortlisted for the Fashion category, but on a personal level, I think this category for me is even more of an achievement, because I think it is all about the creativity of the images - the setting, mise-en-scene and the styling - so to be recognised for the time and effort I love to put into those things, is just such an honour!
If you'd like to vote for me (I will love you for eternity - that should surely be enough....?) please click the below link and go to the 3rd page which is the Best For Photography category and scroll down to the second from the bottom and click the icon next to Mode Madeleine. Then click through until the last page and submit your vote by entering your name and email in the provided boxes - it could not be quicker or simpler and I would truly appreciate all your votes - I can't even tell you how amazing it would be to win!! Also thank you so much to anyone who initially voted for me to get Mode Madeleine shortlisted - you're all absolute gems!
Good luck to all the other nominees in the other categories and I'll look forward to meeting you all at the awards ceremony in November :)
Hello and Happy Friday! I promised myself that this time, post London Fashion Week, I would get all my outfits and photo diary up straight after I returned...but alas, here I am two weeks later just posting my second post of my outfit from day two. So, sorry self, to let you down, but, that's just the way it goes when you have an incredibly gorgeous but rather time consuming toddler to take care of. One of my New Year's resolutions was to get better with time management, organisation and scheduling for my blog, which started off well (like most NYR's often do) but has fizzled out somewhat throughout the year. No matter how many blogger planners I have, I still just find it incredibly hard to balance work/ motherhood/ home/ friends/ blog - and unfortunately it will always be my poor little blog that has to take the back seat when there are just too many other things to do! I love blogging and the opportunities it has awarded me with have been amazing so far, so I want to continue for the foreseeable future, but I think I just need to come up with some better ways of fitting it into my hectic life. If anyone else is a working Mama who also blogs, I'd love to hear any pearls of wisdom you may have to help form a more coherent and easy to stick to structure of blog tasks. Evem if that's just - create a weekly schedule and actually stick to it - that's fine, maybe I just need to hear that and know for sure I'm not missing out on some great, lucrative strategy for maintaining everything in equal measure! Anyway, enough of my ramblings (I'm sure you had enough of those from my previous post) and onto the outfit...
