I'm Maddie AKA Maddie Magpie; a Personal Style & Fashion blogger, occasionally focusing on lifestyle and beauty. I'm also a very proud Mama to one cheeky toddler! I love beautiful things, daydreaming, outfit building and documenting pretty much everything I do through photography...
Mode Madeleine was created after graduating from university with a 2.1 in Fashion with Photography. It was my space to document my outfits, photography, inspirations and creative work. At the time I felt passionate about showing how you can still look stylish on a budget, focusing mainly on high-street buys but mixing with vintage & charity shop bargains. Of course I love high end designer fashion as well- but my bank balance will rarely allow it! I felt it was important to base my blog around a realistic approach, personally, when it comes to dressing. I am also quite petite at 5'2 *andabit*, so wanted to share styling tips and tricks with any fellow petite ladies. It continues to be my creative outlet, but over the years has also enabled me to be lucky enough to collaborate with some well known brands as well as receive invites to various industry events.
The name 'Maddie Magpie' was born when working at Topshop as a Style Adviser. I was constantly pouncing on any new stock that was shiny, sequinned or sparkly, so my colleagues started calling me it. Another reason behind the nickname is that I used to (and still do to a certain extent) love dipping in and out of trends and was never one to be confined to one particular style when compiling my outfits; I would just go with my mood. Back then I would mix it up by dressing ultra girly one day, the next sporty chic or full on vintage - whatever took my fancy on the day. I've always believed that's what style is all about; having fun with clothes and interpreting your own personality into a trend.
My tastes have evolved slightly over the past year or so and since becoming a Mama; I'm now inspired to dress in a much more refined way - appreciating quality over quantity and investment buying to create more of a capsule wardrobe and just including aspects of a trend I love into an outfit, instead of mass buying into it like I would have done a while ago. As I've 'matured' shall we say, my once upon a time motto of 'more is more' has definitely taken a step back to 'less is more'. I am still a Magpie at heart - no outfit will be complete for me without a statement necklace or quirky brooch to add that little extra something, it's just more subtle than before. I would now describe my personal style as 'Classic with a Twist'.
I've completed many placements at magazines including Vogue, Brides, Glamour & Easy Living, as well as at Arcadia HO. More recently I trained as a Photographic Stylist for Hungry Tiger Studios, styling for reputable brands such as John Lewis, Missoni, Whistles, Anya Hindmarch and House of Holland among many more.
I'm currently working in Marketing, enjoying being a Mummy and fitting my blog commitments around my busy schedule :)
